Private Guitar Instruction

Instrument Consulting - We provide our students with assistance in purchasing a guitar. This may include providing a list of vendors, or “testing out” a used guitar before you purchase. We are able to make model and product recommendations based on a student’s expressed musical interest and can also recommend reputable instrument repair services.

Quarterly Newsletter - The newsletter is a feature of our Web site. Along with topics of interest for students and their families, it includes upcoming musical events/opportunities around town, a Want-Ads section for students to use free-of-charge to buy or sell equipment, and a “student forum” section, on occasion.

Used Instrument Sales - Advertise a guitar or related equipment for free in our newsletter. Buying or selling? Check the newsletter regularly.

School Credit - DCM will provide home-schooling parents with a diploma, a course description and appropriate credits to include in the student’s cum file upon request.

Music Performance – Our instructors, Jeff Nickel and Dean Prater perform as the guitar duo, "Dove Creek" with over 60 years of musical experience between them.  If you are looking for impeccable, melodic finger-style performance, let Jeff and Dean provide live background guitar music for your next holiday party, wedding or other special event.  Please contact us for more information and see our calendar of events for upcoming performances.

Music Transcription Service – Do you have an original song, but don’t know how to get it down on paper?  Perhaps you have it written down, but need it typeset or need the notation over your Tablature.  Dove Creek can do it for you!  Contact us to schedule an appointment.

Quarterly Extra-Curricular Workshops and Seminars - We provide or promote several one-day workshops each quarter for those students who want to master a technique or get some ensemble practice. For specific offerings and costs, see our calendar of events.

Tours, Field Trips, Vendor Exhibitions and Concerts - Throughout the year, we will let students know about local happenings through the newsletter or calendar of events.

Student Showcases - We provide an annual opportunity for interested students to perform polished works on the guitar for family and friends. Unlike a music recital, this event is optional and primarily for students who are motivated by the chance to perform.

In-House Mini-Concerts - Occasionally, free mini-concerts are sponsored for students and their families, which feature local artists (friends of Dove Creek) performing various guitar styles in which they are proficient, followed by a “Q and A” time with them.

Jam Sessions - For students interested in experiencing an ensemble environment (including a rhythm section, on occasion). Sessions featuring worship/praise music are also offered from time to time.

Student suggestions/ideas for other group activities are welcome and encouraged!
